Moorside Masterplan, Cumbria, UK
Shortlisted, RIBA International Competition, 2016

The Moorside project is a nationally significant infrastructure project which will deliver a new nuclear power station as well as further associated development, including off-site construction-worker accommodation and transport infrastructure work. Our project involves the development of a new neighbourhood which will initially provide accommodation for 2500 workers, and as a legacy will be developed to provide new residential and community facilities.
Using a prefabricated construction system, a series of linear accommodation blocks define a network of intimate lanes and public spaces running gently downhill from the proposed new railway station to a small existing lake. This development is accompanied by a landscape design with a network of lanes, waterways and informal public spaces.
