Unlike other river cities, Antwerp’s urban development occurred asymmetrically with its development concentrated on its right bank.
Our competition winning proposal creates a strategic masterplan for the city’s left bank that provides improved infrastructural links, with new bridges over the river Scheldt, a coordinated plan for development and a landscape design with excellent leisure facilities, diverse habitats and a robust climate resilience model.
The implementation of the plan for Antwerp’s Left Bank will be an opportunity to develop an exemplary neighbourhood with links to rest of the city. Through the provision of new housing, amenities and a diverse public landscape, the Left Bank will be consolidated as a distinctive but integral district of Antwerp.
