GRANGE LOAN

Domestic extension to an existing basement and garden storey in a 1960s flatted block in central Edinburgh.

 

The current ground floor residence will be extended to form a new kitchen, living and dining area to the basement level accessed by a new timber lined stairwell from the upper floor. A series of parallel walls separate the open plan arrangement into three clear volumes expressed through a series of new large glazed openings to the garden elevation.

 

A natural palette of brick, timber and limestone read across three planes - wall, ceiling and floor - creating a clear organisation of architectural elements.
