Urban Plan, Reykjavik - Competition 1st prize

Vatnsmyri is an area of 150 hectares near the centre of Reykjavik, currently occupied by the domestic airport. The municipal plan calls for the airport's relocation, releasing the developable land essential to ensure that Reykjavik retains its historic core while remaining a real competitor in the global market.

Our proposals establish a reciprocal relationship with the existing city centre, creating a new district which is recognisable and distinct - urban in character but intrinsically linked to the landscape.
